It Is A Problem of Horspower or A Problem of Leadership?
Teams rarely fail because of a lack of horsepower. They fail because the horsepower is in the wrong place.
Sound familiar?
Here are three questions we should ask before adding another layer of management or another meeting to a stuck process:
- Are we putting resources where the actual bottleneck is, or where it feels comfortable politically?
- Are leaders close enough to the mud \(the gemba\) to see what truly blocks flow?
- Are we empowering the people “pulling the wagon” with clear priorities, authority, and practical support?
The thought behind are,
- Shift leaders from passengers to problem solvers.
- Treat headcount as capacity for execution, not decoration for org charts.
- When we realign roles around the constraint, flow improves, burnout drops, and customers feel the difference fast.
