Operational Excellence: Where You Are?
Operational excellence has two layers. One is visible. The other determines everything.
Most plants invest heavily in the outer layer:
- Dashboards.
- 5S audits.
- Kaizen events.
- Training sessions.
- Lean tools.
Important? Yes. Sufficient? No.
Performance does not come from tools. It comes from behavior.
- Do leaders follow through?
- Are standards enforced daily?
- Are problems addressed immediately?
- Is accountability clear?
- Are deviations tolerated?
Tools create structure. Discipline creates results.
Two plants can run the same Lean tools. Only one sustains performance. The difference is rarely technical. It is behavioural.
